Business facts
RBS is a significant banking partner to many major businesses and financial institutions – the solutions we provide make us an integral part of the financial world. We employ 100,000 people working in 37 countries for over 40 million clients.
Why Global Banking & Markets?
As a division of RBS, Global Banking & Markets (GBM) provides debt and equity financing, risk management and corporate finance advisory services to corporations, governments, banks, insurance companies and asset managers. In simple terms we help clients raise financing, mitigate risks, implement their investment strategies and trade internationally.
We have regional hubs in six of the world’s key financial centres including London, Stamford (serving the New York market), Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney. These hubs form the core of our international operations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas. Through our global network, clients gain access to the full range of products and advisory capabilities according to their specific requirements. Our integrated approach focuses on building deep, long term relationships with clients and allows us to understand their objectives and anticipate their needs as they evolve. The quality and depth of our relationships with clients is central to how we do business.
Who we are looking for
Recent events have reinforced, for any company, that focusing on your strengths is important. People across our organisation share a common culture which allows us to focus on being a partner of choice for our leading clients.
We need graduates from across the world to bring their fresh ideas, huge enthusiasm and open minds to GBM. Our business is all about connectivity – from day one, this allows you to gain experience and learn from some of the leading bankers in the business while building lasting networks and relationships internally and externally.
Alongside this, like all GBM staff, our graduates are required to be accountable for their actions. If you choose to join us, with support from your line manager and colleagues you’ll be encouraged to take ownership of projects or portfolios and make your own thoughtful decisions based on robust assessments. Soon the judgements you make will start to contribute to your personal success and consequently, that of our clients.
We have high standards across RBS and we expect a lot from our graduates. The markets are constantly changing but we mustn’t let this affect our levels of responsiveness or the consistency and quality of how we do things. We have established a reputation for seamless execution and it is essential that we build on this. There is a common culture of transparency which is reflected in the open and sincere relationships we have with our clients and colleagues.
